The quality of the pulp produced in the pulping process can be influenced by several factors, including the % extractive with DCM (dichloromethane) solvent. The purpose of the % extractive a analysis was to determine the content of impurities that were still present in the pulp. % extractive represents the content of impurities in the pulp carried from the chipping process until cooking process. Where the impurity itself such us ash or sand. To determine the % extractive in the pulp, used DCM which functions as a solvent. DCM or dichloromethane is a volatile chemical used as an organic solvent for the earlist. Dichloromethane consists of chloromethane and chlorine. To determine the impurities is done by soxhletation. Where soxhletation is a method of separation by means of extraction to isolate the desired component. In the soxhletation process, the impurities that are not soluble in the extract with dichloromethane solvent are added as much as 100-200 ml to fulfill the soxhletation cycle, which is 3 cycles for 4 hours. From the result of the analysis of the content of the % extractive still meet the standards set by PT. Toba Pulp Lestari, Tbk. Sosor Ladang Porsea is 0,20%. And the result of data analysis for % extractive on Fanuary 24-February 04, 2022 is 0,17-0,19 %.
