dc.description.abstractThe problem of handling the fire in Medan is caused, among others, by some factors: Medan is too wide, too hectic, and its inhabitants are unequally distributed. Besides that, the number of the fire stations in Medan is too small and unequally distributed, too. The aim of this research was to determine the minimum number of the fire stations and the strategic sites of the fire stations in Medan in order to minimize the fire accidents. This research was a descriptive study, a method of analyzing the status of a group of people, an object, a set of condition, a set of thought, or a set of events which would occur in the future. In order to determine the number of fire stations, the researcher used the standard, existing regulations, and the experience of the fire fighters. In order to determine the strategic sites of the fire stations, the researcher considered the circulation of the fire engines and their exact routes. This research could hopefully help handle the problems if the fire in Medan.en_US
