dc.description.abstract | Background.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a low grade systemic
inflammation disease. Local airways inflammation related with systemic
inflammation burden. CRP as an acute phase protein of systemic inflammation
was suggested relating with severity of COPD.,
Aim.
Determining correlation between CRP level with severity ol Stable COPD
Method.
A cross sectional study was conducted on 40 Stable COPD patients who visit
Pulmonology and Allergy-lmmunology Outpatient Clinic H Adam Malik Hospital
dan Dr Pirngadi Hospital Medan since April until July 2007. Anmnesis, physical
examination, chest radiograph, spirometry and CRP serum level was
measured. Statistic analysis using Spearmann's correlation and Kruskal-Wallis
test.
Result.
CRP level was positively correlated with severity of Stable COPD with
correlation coefficent (r) 0.326 (p<0.005). There was no differences between
mean of CRP level in each severity of Stable COPD, p = 0.209.
Conclusion.
CRP serum level was positively correlated with severity of Stable COPD.. | en_US |
