Penerapan Metode Possum pada Penderita yang Menjalani Laparotomi Emergensi di Rumah Sakit Tempat Pendidikan FK USU Tahun 2008
Abstract
Background
Predict Morbidity and Mortality rate postoperation is the essential part of all
surgical because both Morbidity and also Mortality is an important outcomes and
objectively. Possum as a tool for surgical audit and predictor for morbidity and
mortality rate can allow a meaningful analisis based on the severity of illness. ln
this study, validity of Possum was applied in patients undergoing laparotomi.
Methods
71 patients who underwent emergency laparatomy in an emergency unit were
studied prospectively. Predicted morbidity and mortality rate were calculated by
Possum using linear analysis. Those were compared with actual outcomes.
Result
Both the correlation between Possum with Mortality show a valued positive
correlation that can prove with significantion 0,000 (p=0,000) with strong 0,683
(r : 0,683) and also the correlation between Possum with Morbidity show a
valued positive correlation that can prove with significantion 0,000 (p = 0,000)
with strong 0,519 (r : 0,519).
Conclusions
Possum were good predictors for morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing
laparatomi that can used as a tool for surgical audit in patients undergoing
laparotomi emergency.
