Background
HIV/AIDS infection cases keep increasing every year. These found most common in
productive ages. The number of HIV positive prisoners in Indonesia increase every
year, The data from Health Department showed that 17.5% of prisoners HIV positive
m 2000, a 22% in 2002. The cases of HIV/AIDS infection still not reported in
young adult prison yet" 15 - 21 years old.
Objective
To study relationship between risky behavior and HIV cases in Children Prison Class
IIA Tanjung Gusta in Medan,
Method
This is a cross sectional analytic study which was conducted from February to
October 2009, with 78 samples of prisoners at Tanjung Gusta in Medan. Rapid test
and questioners were used to determine HIV infection. The questioners were used to
investigate risky behavior of HIV infection.
Result
Rapid test found 4 prisoners were positive HIV infection of 78 prisoners. There were
relationship between intravena drug users and HIV infection (p:0,01), tattooing and
HIV infection (p=.022). But there were no relationship between free sex behavior
and HIV infection (p=0.348), homosexual and HIV infection (p=0.505).
