| dc.description.abstract | The environmental problem that has become a national issue is the waste problem.
Efforts to Reduce the volume of waste at the household level can be done by applying
the 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) by involving the participation of
housewives. This study was conducted to determine the implementation of waste
management with the 3R principle as an effort to Reduce the volume of waste for
housewives in Labuhan Deli Village.. The method in this study is a descriptive survey
to see an overview of waste management with 3R principles on housewives in
Labuhan Deli Village. The results showed that the respondents were housewives
aged 55-56 years (37.8%), the last education was elementary school (51%), family
income below Rp. 3,000,000 (63.3%), Malay ethnicity (72.4%) and having <5 family
members (77.6%) with household waste generated in 6 days is 397.5 Kg or every
day household waste produced is 0.676 Kg/day and 0.166 Kg/person/day with 90%
organic waste and 10% inorganic waste. The composition of the most waste is food
waste as much as 83.3%. Waste management with the principle of Reduce for most
housewives is in the low category, namely 75 housewives (76.5%), waste
management with the principle of Reuse for some housewives is in the medium
category, namely 46 housewives (46.9%) , waste management with the Recycle
principle in most housewives is in the low category, namely 96 housewives (98%),
and waste management with the 3R principle in most housewives is in the low
category, namely 88 housewives (89.8%). Then almost all housewives are not aware
of the Regional Regulation and the Medan Mayor Regulation relating to the
management of household waste as well as a fine of 10,000,000 or imprisonment for
