Cervical cancer is the number two cancer type most frequently found in
women all over the world and has become the major cause of cancer-related
mortality in the developing countries with the morbidity rate of 16 per 100. 000
women. The new case of cervical cancer found was 9. 7% with mortality rate of 9. 3%
per year. One of the ways to do cervical cancer early detection is through IV A
(Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) technique which is available at Puskesmas
(Community Health Center), but the number of visit of the women to do IVA test is
still low. It is assumed to have caused by the factors of socio-demography and health
service provider.
The purpose of this explanatory survey study conducted in the working area of
Puskesmas Perbaungan was to explain the influence of socio-demography and health
service provider on the utilization of cervical cancer early detection service. The
population of this study was 24.209 women patients, and 96 of them were selected to
be the samples for this study. The data obtained were analyzed through univariate
analysis, bivariate analysis with Chi-square test, and multivariate analysis with
multiple logistic regression tests.
The result of multiple logistic regression tests showed that the knowledge and
attitude of health workers were the variables influencing on the utilization of health
service for cervical cancer early detection. The variables with the biggest influence
were the attitude of health workers (p = 0.000, Exp (B) = 20.040), and the
knowledge (p = 0. 000, Exp (B) = 13. 797). The probability of the mothers with good
knowledge and supported by the health workers with good attitude to utilize the
cervical cancer early detection health service through IVA test war 98.87%.
The management of Puskesmas Perbaungan is suggested to provide all of the
health workers or rural midwives working in his/her working area with trainings that
the health workers and midwives have adequate skills in conveying information to the
mothers to do cervical cancer early detection through IVA test.
