Analisa Kondisi Ruang Terbuka Hijau sebagai Sarana Ruang Bermain Anak (Studi Kasus : Taman Cadika, Medan Johor, Kota Medan)

Abstract

Public places which include city parks in outdoor spaces are still deficient to be utilized or developed as children's play spaces in residential environments. Law No.23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, it is clearly stated about playing as a child's right (Article 11) and play spaces as a facility that must be provided by the Government (Article 56). The provision of children's playing spaces in outdoor spaces with an adequate facilities become a necessity and the importance of its existence of outdoor spaces in residential areas in Medan Johor. From medan city spatial layout in 2006, Medan Johor sub-district is directed to have the main function as the center of the sub-district government, the urban environment, the development of residential areas and also as a green area of the city of Medan. The rapid physical development in Medan Johor sub-district can be seen from the rapid growth of economic activity (retail trade, culinary area, etc.) that triggers the development of residential areas in Medan Johor sub-district. Existing residentials are increasing in Medan Johor sub-district, but not all of the residentials provide garden facilities that can function as an area of interaction between residents and also a children's playing spaces. Green open space used by children as a means of playing space in Medan Johor sub-district is a city park area which includes Cadika Park which is located on Jalan Karya Wisata. The use of green outdoor spaces research as a playing tool for children is analyzed based on the following variables: safety, health, comfort, convenience, security, and beauty. The method that used in this research is a qualitative method with direct observation of the facilities contained in the children's playing space and a survey method with the direct interviews to the respondents to find out the types of game that children wants and the children’s playing facilities requirements. The benefit of the research from academic aspects are that the results of this study can be used as input and considerations/guides in providing the suitable open spaces and meets the criteria for a good children’s playing space. The practical benefit obtained from this research is to know the conditions of the using of green open spaces by children so that can be used as the input for the local government (Pemda) of Medan City.
