Evaluasi Pengendalian Toksisitas Pestisida pada Pekerja Pabrik Pestisida Dow Agrosciences Medan Tahun 2005

Abstract

The employees of PT. AgroSciences Medan had a high risk toward their health caused by pestiside exposure. This case was caused by low of employee's knowledge for pesticide toxic effect so they did not follow the secure workable procedures and the lack of company's policy in order to reduce the pesticide performance. This research was done by survey and analyzed descriptively toward 61 employees of production department that purposed to evaluate the policy of company in controlling of pesticide toxic toward the employees. The interview established to know the supported factors of these performances. Result of this research shows the reduction of occurrence of activity of light AChE of 26 persons (42,62%) and I person with medium (1,64%). Reduction of activities were linked to some characteristics of age, history of disease, normal Hb level and works period. Respondent experienced with medium activities are in 26 years old and work for4 months. All of respondent have the normal Hb level, the same diseases history such as: fever, cough and headache. Result of interview was found that all respondent's education level was Senior high school (SMA), knew the dangerous of pesticide, knew the working procedures and uses the protection custom that was provided by company. Respondent sometimes did not clean their selves after working would experience the reduction of AChE activities into medium level and it would experiences the complex claims such as fever and over sweat. The policy of company toward work environment that a part of them has fulfilled the OSHA standard, checking of AChE activities has been established every once a 6 months, and establishing of APD providing, but the rules of working periods with pesticide was 5 hour per days are not established yet. lt is suggested to the company to establish the rules about working hours with pesticide and establishing the controlling toward employees at shift IT and III. For institutional in charge such as Health Department, Agricultural Department and Local Government to control and to establish the guidance toward pesticide controlling in factory.
