As we know Medan produce a lot of waste durian rind every day. To
reduce environmental pollution by the durian rind it takes an effort to overcome
them, one of them with the manufacture of recycled paper with durian rind raw
material waste and waste paper. This research aims to study the characteristics of
paper made from the durian rind pulp and waste paper pulp. This research used a
non factorial completely randomized design that durian rind composition (0%,
25%, 50%, 75% and 100%). Parameters observed were grammage, tensile
strength, tear resistance, production cost, break-even point and net present value.
The results showed that the composition of the durian rind provides highly
significant effect on the grammage, tensile strength and tear resistance of paper.
The resulting paper can be categorized as art paper with the best results obtained
in the durin rind composition 0% (200 g durian rind). The results showed the cost
to produce one sheet of paper was Rp. 13350.75, the break even point was 46.84
sheets of paper/year, and the net present value was Rp 14,759,753.22 / year. | en_US |
