Profil Penderita Tumor Epitelial Ganas Kelenjar Liur di Departemen Patologi Anatomi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sumatera Utara/RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan Tahun 2010-2014

Abstract

Background. Malignant epithelial salivary gland tumors are rare tumors classified of head and neck cancers. The majority of these tumors are benign and less are malignant. Salivary gland tumors exhibit heterogenecity of histologic type with different features. The worldwide reported show differences in incidence, prevalence and histological types of these tumors related to ethnic and geographic population. Salivary gland tumors only 3-10% of all malignancies. In Indonesia, reported about salivary gland tumors are uncommon. The etiological agents of salivary gland tumors remain unclear. Diversity of morphology salivary gland tumors are challenging to diagnose and classified these tumors. Objective. To know the profile of patients with malignant epithelial salivary gland tumours in Department of Pathology Anatomy Faculty of Medicine University of Sumatera Utara/RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan in 2010-2014. Methodes. This research is a descriptive study with cross sectional approach which the samples were checked only once and only one time using consecutive sampling. Collection of data from medical records of patients in Department of Pathology Anatomy Faculty of Medicine University of Sumatera Utara/RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan in 2010-2014, noted the data for age, gender and tumor location then do collection of slides based on it. The slides were reviewed by researcher and adviser. The slide were assessed the histopathological types based on classification of WHO (2005) and grouped according to clinical data.
