Development of agriculture subsector particularly of oil palm is one of the most important factors for the entire agriculture development and an integral part of the national development. It can be indicated from ; a). oil palm is a prime mover of agrobusiness development of oil palm ranging from upstream to downstream, b) development of oil palm subsector is a sufficiently large provider of employement and even as a income resource of farmers, c). Oil palm is one of the commodities that has a significant worth of foreign exchange. Oil palm is one of the prominent commodities of agriculture that has progressively progressed nowadays in technology either of plant or of processing. The more competitive market coerced the improvement of production quality and quantity associated with the improvement of performance efficiency. ln compliance with the development of oil palm agriculture in North Sumatra, the writer made a review of the effect of agricultural development on regional extension of North Sumatra in a scientifical work to find know the effect of ; variable of the demand (FFB, CPO) of the land area and price (TBS, CPO) on the land area. And then, variable of price (TBS, CPO, kemel oil and cooking oil) on FFB productiooon and variable of FFB production on PDR of agriculture subsector. The subjects of research included all the oil palm agricultures in North Sumatra. The objects of research included the FFB production of North Sumatra as an indicator of regional extension of North Sumatra. The hypothesis test used a statistic analysis using linear and multiple regressions. The result of such a research showed that the variable of FFB and COP demand has a significant effect on that of oil palm agriculture land area of North Sumatra. The increased demands of both FFB and CPO was predicted to require the extension of oil palm land area of North Sumatra. The increased prices of both FFB and GPO was predicted to require the exxtension of oil palm land area of North sumatra. The increased prices of FFB, CPO, kemel oil and cooking oil was predicted to require the increase in FFB production of North Sumatra. The variable of FFB production has a significant effect on the PDRB of agriculture subsector of North Sumatra Province. It is suggested that (a) the Provincial Goverment determines a policy of oil palm production management especially in the improvement of quality of agricultural products and the derivates that can compete against those produced by other countries especially in dealing with Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA),(b) the Provincial Government of North Sumatra is expected to motivate investment in the processing factories of oil palm-derivated products in North Sumatra by providing allowance in license,(c) professional maketing strategy to support the successful marketing of oil palm products in international markets through a collaboration with foreign consumen or importers and (d) for development of further research, it is required to review any possible factors to be developed in spite of the variables of the current research related to restriction of land in North Sumatra.en_US
