Strategi Adaptasi Pelaku Usaha Wisata di Kawasan Wisata Kebun Teh Sidamanik Selama Masa Pandemi Covid-19
Abstract
Human as living beings who depend themselves to the environment have ways to
adapt and cope with changes that occur in their environment, and this method is called as
adaptive strategy. As an example of environmental change is the Covid-19 pandemic. Covid 19 pandemic as a deadly epidemic that has spread to all around the world since 2020 has had
an impact on various aspects of human life. Various policies to prevent the spread of this
epidemic have affected the activities of tourism business who depends on the tourism sector
for their lives, including tourism businesses in the tourist area of Sidamanik Tea Garden. The
biggest impact is the decline in the income of businessmen, due to the drastic drop in the
number of tourist visits. This study aims to find out about the strategies carried out by
businessmen in the Sidamanik Tea Garden tourist area in order to be able to survive during
the Covid-19 Pandemic. The techniques of data collection were carried out by observation,
interviews, literature studies and documentation. Then the data obtained in the field were
analyzed qualitatively to obtain conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the
Sidamanik Tea Garden tourism businessmen apply an adaptive strategy by carrying out an
active strategy, passive strategy, and network strategy. The active strategy is to do additional
work to increase income, and involve the participation of family members in increasing
family income. The passive strategy is carried out in several ways, including by
implementing a frugal lifestyle, reducing expenditure on food needs, reducing expenditure on
clothing needs, and reducing expenditure on tertiary needs. Meanwhile, the network strategy
is carried out in several ways, namely by utilizing relationships with relatives and family to
borrow money, and utilizing assistance programs provided by the government.
