Briquette is one type of alternative fuel made from various kinds of biological or
biomass , biomass used in this study is the palm shells and palm oil waste sludge . This
research aims to make charcoal from biomass biobriket palm shells and sewage sludge
palm oil as an alternative fuel and to test the quality of biobriket charcoal , among others,
the quality of calorific value , water content , density and ash content . Testing was
performed under non factorial completely randomized design with prameter calorific
value , water content , density and ash content . The results of this study indicate that the
composition of charcoal biobriket very real effect terrhadap calorific value , water content
, density and ash content . Average - average calorific values obtained in this study is
3714.16 cal / g , does not meet quality standards of briquettes made in the UK , Japan ,
USA and Indonesia , the average - average water content obtained in this study is 7.95 %
, not meet the quality standards of briquettes made in the UK , Japan , USA but meet the
quality standards of briquettes made in Indonesia , the average - average density obtained
in this study is 0.79 ( g / cm3 ) , meets the quality standards of briquettes made in Japan ,
America but does not meet the quality standards briquettes made in Indonesia , the
average - average ash content obtained in this study is 19.84 ( % ) , did not meet quality
standards briquettes
