Hasil Tangkapan Sampingan (Bycatch) Alat Tangkap Purse Seine di Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera Belawan Sumatera Utara

Abstract

A purse seine is an active fishing gear and some of them are still found with small mesh sizes. This can enable purse seine fishing gear to potentially become fishing gear with low selectivity for the size and type of fish being the target of the catch. The catch from fishing gear can provide an overview of the sustainability of fish resources in the sea. This study aims to compare the composition of bycatch and main catch and the abundance of bycatch species on purse seine fishing gear in PPS Belawan. The method in this study uses survey methods and interviews conducted directly in the field to identify and count the types of species caught by purse seine fishing gear. Data analysis used descriptive statistical analysis. The results of this study of the total types of catch in as many as 30 species show that the total main catch in the number is more dominant as much as 99.5717% of 1 species and the total of abundance by-catch is 0.00064%-0.06042% of 29 species of which the most species are Photopectoralis sp., 0.06487% then followed by Sphyraena forsteri 0.06042% and Atule mate 0.05088%.
