Bile pathway disorder can result in such clinical impacts as dyspepsia, nausea, and white concentrated feces. It can be treated by increasing the contraction/motility of smooth muscles of gall bladder (cholekinetic) and induce bile liquid (choleretic) pathway. A randomized, double blind, and crossover design study was carried out in 12 healthy volunteers. The randomization was made for administration sequence of capsule containing root, stem or leaf simplex of sambiloto and placebo. After testing for overnight (approx. 10. hours), each volunteer took capsule with 100 ml of water and then the bile bladder volume was measured at 0,0 hour (pre-consumption of the drug) and every 30 minutes for 2 hours after taking the drug. The bile bladder volume was measured using ultrasonograph according to the postulate of Rasyid & Lelo. The effect of simplex on the bile volume was visible within 0,5 hour post consumption of the simplex of either root, stem or leaf of sambiloto. Whereas the bile volume post-consumption in placebo tends to increase as time. The most significant contraction of bile bladder was found within 2 hours post-administration of the drug in which the effect of stem (67,5 ± 7,25%) was more significantly (P<0,01) than that of root (58,5 ± 7,97%) and leaf (60 ± 5,89%) of sambiloto.
In this study. The significant effect of collekinetic of sambiloto was found within 0,5 hour post-administration and the most significant effect was by stem rather than by both root and leaf of sambiloto.
