Thrombosis is one of many factors that responsible for highly death rate in human, but can be prevented by the work of antiplatelet aggregation. Aspirin is one of antiplatelet aggregation that commonly used to prevent aggregation, despite of it's work, aspirin also cause side effect such as irritation of gastro intestinal tract. The side effect of aspirin can be avoided by using a material like alginate. Alginate is a non toxic and non allergic material that can protect the mucous of gastro intestinal tract from irritation. The administration of aspirin in alginate capsule can reduce the side effect of aspirin it self. The purpose of this study was to compare of the platelet aggregation function between aspirin given in alginate capsule and Ascardia®; each of this products containing 80 mg of aspirin. Platelet aggregation was measured using Platelet Aggregation with turbidimetry method by using 10 healthy humans consist of 5 healthy man and 5 healthy women. The result of this study showed that there was no significant difference between the effect of platelet aggregation of aspirin in alginate capsule and Ascardia® (P > 0,05). Platelet aggregation at ADP O µM for aspirin in alginate capsule= 2.71 ± 1.58 (baseline= 1.83 ± 1.00); Ascardia® = 1.56 ± 1.47 (baseline = 2.00 ± 1.34); at ADP 1 µM, aspirin in alginate capsule= 6.89 ± 9.09 (baseline= 5.42 ± 4.73); Ascardia® = 5.33 ± 6.49 (baseline = 5.42 ± 5.43); at ADP 5 µM, aspirin in alginate capsule= 30.98 ± 23.63 (baseline= 35.02 ± 21.99); Ascardia® = 36.64 ± 13.09 (baseline= 37.91 ± 15.89) and at ADP 10 µM, aspirin in alginate capsule= 46.92 ± 20.75 (baseline= 52.99 ± 21.23); Ascardia® = 51.55 ± 13.30 (baseline= 59.26 ± 15.75).
