This study examines the influence of spatial structure on the spread of the Covid-
19 virus in the Medan Helvetia Sub-District. It is necessary to research the impact
of spatial structure on Covid-19 based on a statement stating that population
density and mobility affect the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic virus. Indeed,
population density and mobility are essential indicators of spatial structure. The
purpose of this study is to determine and examine the spatial structure of the Medan
Helvetia Sub-District and analyze the influence of the spatial structure on the rate
of Covid-19 virus spread in the Medan Helvetia Sub-District. The method used in
this research is the qualitative method. The researcher obtained the primary data
sources through field observations and distributing questionnaires to respondents
using the purposive sampling method. Meanwhile, the researcher obtained
secondary data from literature studies and institutions related to the research
object. The result obtained is that there is an influence of two spatial structure
indicators on the rate of Covid-19 virus spread in the Medan Helvetia Sub-District,
namely density distribution and movement patterns. These two spatial structure
indicators have a positive interaction with the rate of Covid-19 virus spread. The
results showed that the higher the density and movement (mobility) of the
population, the higher the spread of the Covid-19 virus in Medan Helvetia Sub-
District.
