Efek Hepatoprotektor Ekstrak Etanol Daun Sirih Merah (Piper crocatum Ruiz and Pav.) pada Tikus Putih Jantan yang Diinduksi Karbon Tetraklorida

Abstract

World Health Organization (WHO), the prevalention of liver cirhosisis 1,3% and 18th caused death about 800.000 cases in the world. Damage of liver cell can be caused by chemoteraphy drugs, carbon tetrachloride (CC14), tiosetamid (TAA), the use of high doses of drug or in long term drug use like paracetamol, and excessive alcohol consumption.The purpose of this study is to determine the hepatoprotective activity of ethanol extract of red betel, the reduced levels of ALT, AST, and ALP, and the description of changes in liver hepatocytes, to find extracts of red betel can be used as treatment and prevention of liver disease. The ethanol extract of red betel was founded by maceration. Hepatoprotector test of extract ethanol of red betel was divided into two groups: the curative of extract ethanolic of red betel (EERB) and preventive of EERB test. In the curative test, rat that had been induced with CC4 1 ml/kg bw every 4 days for 45 days given EERB 600 mg/kg bw each day for 15 days. Dupng giving the EERB, ALT, AST,and ALP were measured on days 0; 5; IO;and 15. Preventive of EERB test, normal rats were given 600 mg/kg bw each day for 45 days and CCl4 each 4 hours for 45 days. During giving the EERB, ALT, AST, and ALP were measured on days 0; 15; 30; and 45. Then take the liver, normal hepatocytes was observed and calculated at five visual field.
