dc.description.abstractThe competitive advantage of universities is a very important factor in facing competitive competition in the era of globalization to achieve competition at the national and global levels. Universities must be able to compete and adapt to the rapidly changing environment, including technological advances. e-HRM helps universities improve service quality, automate work, provide time and cost efficiency for various activities such as e-recruitment, e-selection, e- training/learning, e-compensation, and e-management of lecturer performance in achieving competitive advantage. The purpose of this research is to build a competitive advantage model for private universities through e-HRM activities so that universities performance can run more effectively and efficiently. The type of the research used in this study is an explanatory survey, with a descriptive method. While the data sources used primary data and secondary data with census techniques at 8 (eight) B-accredited private universities in the city of Medan, totaling 385 respondents, namely structural officials at universities. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the WarpPLS 7.0 version program. The results of this study indicate that the contextual technology, actorial, and external environment variables directly have a positive and significant effect on e- HRM activities. The organizational readiness variable has a positive and insignificant effect on e-HRM activities. Variables of organizational readiness and the external environment have a positive and significant impact on competitive advantage. Contextual technology and actorial variables have a positive and insignificant effect on competitive advantage. Indirectly, the variables of contextual technology, actorial and external environment have a positive and significant effect on competitive advantage through e-HRM activities, while the organizational readiness variable has a positive and insignificant effect on competitive advantage through e-HRM activities.en_US
