    Abstract
KASTA EFRATA BARUS: Briquetting of rice husk with a combination of coal, supervised by ACHWIL PUTRA MUNIR and SULASTRI PANGGABEAN. Briquette is one type of alternative fuel made from various kinds of biological or biomass. Briquettes used in this study is rice husk and coal. This research was aimed to improve the utilization of biomass to make biobriket charcoal as alternative fuels and to test the best charcoal briquette composition between rice husk with coal blending on the quality of the resulting briquettes. Testing is done by non factorial completely randomized design with the parameters of water content, density, firmness press, ash content and calorific value. The results showed that the composition biobriket charcoal gives highly significant effect on water content, density, firmness press, ash content and calorific value. The water content of the best in this study is 1,513%% compliant briquettes made in Japan, America, England and Indonesia. Density value in this study is equal to 0.610 to 0.443 g / cm3, which is approaching the quality standards of briquettes made in Indonesia and briquettes made in England. Firmness best press in this study were obtained, namely 3.78 kg / cm2 which do not meet the quality standards of briquettes made in the UK, Japan, USA and ash content Indonesia. Best ash content value in this study is 49.0724%, does not meet the quality standard briquettes for Indonesia, Japan, UK and USA. Best calorific value in this study is equal 5857.8581 cal / g that meets the quality standards of briquettes made in Indonesia and approaching the quality standards of briquettes made in the UK and Japan
