Karakteristik Kertas Berbahan Baku Batang Pisang (Musa Paradisiaca) dan Sampah Kertas

Abstract

NOVA SURIANI: Characteristics of Paper-Based Stem Banana (Musa Paradisiaca) and Waste Paper, supervised by AINUN ROHANAH and NAZIF ICHWAN. It is time for Indonesia to reduce dependence on paper usage with raw materials from the tree. It can be the development of alternative environmentally friendly and does not increase the number of trees to cut down. With pape rmaking waste utilizing the banana (Musa paradisiaca) and waste paper are wasted deemed suitable to overcome the problems of the use of the current paper. This research was done on May-Juni 2013. The processing of paper making was done on Jl. No Roso. 8 Delitua Medan North Sumatra and the testing of paper was done in Laboratory PT PDM Indonesia, Medan, using non-factorial randomized block design with on factor.i.e. waste paper composition (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%). Parameters observed were grammage, tensile and tearing strenght. The results showed that the composition of the waste paper had highly signifficant effect on grammage and tensile strength. The resulting paper can be categorized as art paper with best result of grammage by ingredienting at the composition of 30% (350 g stem banana and 150 g waste paper), tensile strength and tearing strenghtrip at the composition of 0% (500 g stem banana).
