RIZKY YOUNANDA SITEPU: Briquetting of rice husk with a combination of
durian rind as raw material for charcoal briquette hidraulic press system,
supervised by AINUN ROHANAH and SAIPUL BAHRI DAULAY.
Briquette is one type of alternative fuel made from various kinds of
biological mass or biomass. Briquette materials used in this study were rice husk
and durian’s rind. This research was aimed to improve the utilization of biomass
by making charcoal biobriquette as alternative fuel and to find the best durian’s
rind andrice husk briquettecomposition. The research was done by non factorial
completely randomized design with parameters: water content, ash content and
calorific value.
The results showed that the charcoal biobriquette composition had highly
significant effect on water content, ash content and calorific value. The water
content of the best biobriquette was 1,513% which meet those made in Japan,
America, England and Indonesia. Ash content was2,48%,which did not meet the
quality standard briquettes from Indonesia, Japan, UK and USA. Calorific value
wasto 5446,275 cal/g that met the quality standard of briquettes made in
Indonesia and approaching the quality standard of briquettes made in Japan.
