Mud Grouper (E. tauvina) is a popular fish among Indonesian people, which becomes a favorite dish for Indonesian people. Weevil and disease that derive from the aquaculture of the mud grouper becomes one of the most determining factors of the success of the aquaculture of the Mud Grouper. The sick mud grouper were taken from Floating Net Cages or Keramba Jaring Apung (KJA) that is located in Belawan waters. The research is aimed at finding bacteria that cause disease, which infects the mud grouper and discovering the bacterial pathogens in the KJA. The research was conducted for four months from May to August 2014 in SKIPM laboratory of Class I Medan II. The isolation and characterization of the bacterial pathogen in the mud grouper and in the KJA water use the dilution series and the scratch cup method. Based on the observation, it is found that the mud grouper has three species that are potential as the bacterial pathogens on the mud grouper and water by the total number of 41 isolats, which are Aeromonas salmonicida, Edwardsiella ictaluri, and Vibrio harveyi.en_US
