This reseach head to determine antimicrobial potential of stem bark extract
mangosteen rind (Garcinia mangostana) again bacterial of Aeromonas
hydrophila, Edwardsiella tarda and fungus Saprolegnia sp. and determine the
level of toxicity bacterial against Artemia Salina Leach. The mangosteen rind was
extracted with several solvent, such as methanol, etil asetat and n-hexsana.
Testing of antimicrobial activity carried out by disc diffusion method, to
determine the compounds contained in the extract phytochemical test. To
determine the level of toxicity of the extract using the Brine Shrimp Lethality
Test. The chemical compound analysis showed that extract of lotus seed contains
fenolik, terpen/steroid dan alkaloid. The extracts inhibitated the growth of
Aeromonas hydrophila, Streptococcus agalactiae bacteria and Saprolegnia sp.
fungi to some extent. Largest microbial growth inhibition zone of bacteria present
in E. tarda by 12 mm.The optimal antimicrobial activity was obtained from etil
asetat. The extract showed cytotoxic activity with LC50<1000 μg/ml.
