In general water quality show grade or water conditions associated with
activities or certain purposes. Changes in water quality influnential to species
exixtence and amount of water biota like plankton. The existence of plankton in
the waters most determined by the physical and chemical conditions of the water.
Plankton have a certain tolerance limits to enviromental parameters so that
diversity will be different on the condition of the physical and chemical
parameters are different. This research was conducted from April to May 2014.
Samples were taken from three observation stations, at each station observations
were made 3 replications. Sampling point is determined using Purposive Random
Sampling method.
As the result with STORET method, Sunggal River Waters at station 1
have experienced mild pollution with a score of -10 and at station 2 and 3 have
experienced medium pollution with a score of -18. As the result, ten classes of
phytoplankton were found, they were Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae,
Chrysophyceae, Cryptophyceae, Conjugatophyceae,Coscinodiscophyceae,
Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Ulvophyceae and Xanthophyceaedan 3 classes
zooplankton they were Branchiopoda, Gastropoda and Maxillopoda.
The highest value of plankton abudance was at station 3 is 54 Ind/l and the
lowest value of found in station 1 is 24,8 Ind/l. The highest of index diversity (H’)
founded at station 3 is 2,65 and the lowest at station 1 is 2,32.
