dc.description.abstractFish Sili (Family :Mastacembelidae) can be characterized by an elongated proboscis down the snout. Family Mastacembelidae are divided into three genera namely Mastacembelus (48 species), Macrognathus (15 species), and Sinobdella (1 species). Research on Fish Sili was minimal particularly in view of data for the region of North Sumatra undiscovered. Seruai River is one of the rivers in North Sumatra contained fish populations Sili. This research was conducted in order to know how the characters Morphological and Abundance Fish Sili (Family : Mastacembelidae) in Seruai River. Sili fish have economic potential in addition to the consumption also can be used as ornamental fish unique because of its morphology, moreover, as one of the diversity of fish that should be protected. This study was conducted in August 2016. The results showed that there are only two Seruai River fish species of the Family Mastacembelidae Sili is Mastacembelus unicolor and Mastacembelus notophthalmus. Fish abundance Sili already a bit with the value of the use of nets abundance of 0.15 ind / m² and 0.07 ind / m² are on station 1 and 3. The value of the use of traps abundance of 2.13 ind / m² and are found only in the station 2. Attendance Sili fish can be said is rarely to be founden_US
