Mangrove is the living plant community between the sea and the land that
was influenced by the tides. Bali beach in Mesjid Lama village, Batu Bara
Regency of North Sumatera had an area of mangrove forest about 635 Ha. Bali
beach still had a natural mangrove ecosystem. But, the coastal has long been used
by the local community as a source of livelihood especially mangrove forest
logging. This research was aimed to know the ecological condition of mangrove
forest and condition of the mangrove waters. This research was done in March
2014 till Mei 2014. This research was done with a purposive sampling method by
taking and observation of biotic components which was mangrove vegetation and
worm Nereis and the measurement of water quality parameters. Data analysis
included analysis of mangrove vegetation, analysis of water quality, analysis of
substrate and analysis of morfometri leaves. Mangrove species found at the
research site as much as 10 kinds namely Aegiceras corniculatum, Avicennia
lanata, Avicennia marina, Avicennia officinalis, Bruguiera cylindrica, Bruguiera
sexangula, Ceriops tagal, Excoecaria agallocha, Rhizophora mucronata and
Rhizophora stylosa. Based the decision of environmet minister number 201/2004,
the mangrove density in all of the stations included in category medium and the
mangrove cover included in category rarely. The condition of mangrove waters
compared with the decision of environment minister number 51/2004. A kind of
the substrate mangrove at the research was clay, clays and clays dusty. The
highest content of tanin and nitrogen in Avicennia lanata leaves, the highest
posfor contained in Rhizophora stylosa leaves. Nereis worm much found in
station II. The biggest diversity index at station II.
