Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat (Puskesmas) is a functional organizational
unit which is a center for community health development which also fosters
community participation in addition to providing comprehensive and integrated
services to the community in its working area in the form of main activities. At the
Padang Bulan Health Center, Medan, drug supply management is generally
carried out based on experience from common diseases, the amount of remaining
drug stock, and usage in previous periods as well as seasonal outbreaks. Disease
data that is difficult to obtain with certainty as well as poor recording and
reporting, affect the planning of drug needs at the current health center which is
not good so that there is over stock and stock out of drugs which results in the
purchase of drugs on a cito basis and causes patient dissatisfaction with Puskesmas
services. The general objective to be achieved in this research is to analyze drug
supply at Padang Bulan Health Center, Medan. Inventory of drug needs can be
done using the Always, Better, Control (ABC) method and the Vital, Essential,
Nonessential (VEN) method to set priorities in drug procurement so that funds are
used efficiently. Based on the analysis of the combination of ABC-VEN obtained
nine categories of drugs that can be divided into three categories of drugs. Drugs
that are included in Category I are 17 types (21.95%) with usage costs of
273,674,568 (75.24%), category II are 62 types (74.39%) usage costs are
89,771,551 (24.68%) ), and category III as many as 3 types (3.66%) usage costs
of 276,775 (0.078%) Based on the results of the analysis of drug inventory
calculations using the Continuous Review System method, the inventory cost for
category I drugs at the Padang Bulan Health Center, Medan is Rp. 287,715,167,95.
The results of the calculation of drug safety stock on drugs obtained that the number
of drug safety stock varies from 2.3 to 11,218.52 units for each type of drug. The
results of the calculation of drug reorder points at Padang Bulan Health Center,
Medan, obtained reorder points for different types of drugs ranging from 1 to
1212.38 units for each type of drug.
