dc.description.abstractWateris oftencontaminatedbyinorganiccomponentssuch asvarious heavy metalsthat are harmful. Someheavymetalsarewidely usedin a variety ofdaily needsanddirectlyor indirectly,canpollute the environmentandwhen itexceeds theprescribed limitharmful tolife. This study aimstoanalyzethe content ofheavy metalsPbandCuinBelawanRiver basinandthe central partof BelawanRiverwater qualitybased onwater quality standards. This research was conductedinMarch-April 2014 inthe RiverDistrict of MedanBelawanMedanSunggal. The number ofstationsobserved were3 stations. Parametersmeasured werephysical-chemicalparameters ofthe waters, the concentration ofheavy metalslead and copperin thewatercolumnusingAbrsorptionAtomicSpectrophotometry(AAS).Pbconcentratio n ofheavy metalsinwaterbetween0 to 0.241mg/l, andthe concentration ofheavy metalsCubetween0 to 0.025mg/l. This shows theheavymetal contentof PbandCuinthe central partof BelawanRiver flowhas exceededthe standarden_US
