dc.description.abstract | Leachate is waste water that comes from landfill which contains various kinds of pollutants that are harmful to the environment. This study aims to analyze variations in electric voltage, contact time, and inter-electode distance to obtain optimal mercury (Hg) removal by electrocoagulation method using copper electrodes. RSM is used to design experiments, create model, evaluate the effect of the independent variables, and find optimal conditions for mercury removal. The predicted optimum mercury removal efficiency from the model of 99.707% was obtained with voltage 10,455 volts, time 28,715 minutes, and inter-electode distance 1,027 cm. This prediction is in accordance with the results of laboratory experiments of 99.641%. The results of this study indicate that the mercury removal efficiency increases with increasing voltage and time; reduce the electrode distance. RSM is a method that can be used to optimize the removal of mercury in leachate by electrocoagulation | en_US |
