Dumbo catfish farming is intensively to covering the environment, water
quality and feeding. Feeding using the appropriate dose enzyme papain can
determine the rate of growth and survival rate of dumbo catfish. The research
aims to know for giving the enzyme papain to the growth and survival rate of
catfish is well and to knowing the amount of enzyme papain which is effective to
the growth and survival rate of catfish. This research was conducted from
December 2015 - January 2016 in the Laboratory of Aquaculture, Water Resource
Management, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. The results
showed that the enzyme papain can accelerate length and weight growth of catfish
and increaseing the survival rate of catfish . The enzyme papain also significantly
affect to length and weight growth of catfish but no real effect on the survival of
catfish. The amount of the enzyme papain which is effective for length and weight
growth of catfish as much as 2.5% of the enzyme.
