THE EFECT OF YOUNG ARECA AND KNIFE DISTANCE AND UNDER KNIFES
RPM ON THE QUALITY OF PEELED PRODUCT
The aim of this research was to find the effect of distance knife and under knifes
rpm on the quality of peeled product. The research had been performed using completely
randomized design with two factors i-e : distance knife (J1 = 1,5 cm ; J2 = 2,0 cm) and
under knifes rpm (R1 = 280 rpm ; R2 = 350 rpm ; R3 = 420 rpm ; R4 = 490 rpm ; R5 = 560
rpm). Parameters analyzed were machine capacity , percentage of peeled fruit,
percentage of nut on the peel, percentage of loosed nut percentage of fruit unpeeled,
percentage of intact nut, percentage of defect areca nut.
The result showed that the distance knife had highly significant effect on all
parameters except machine capacity and the percentages of deffect nut which were not
significant. The under knifes rpm had highly significant effect on all parameters. The
interaction of distance knife and under knifes rpm had not significant effect on all
parameters except machine capacity which were highly significant diffect.
The best result for knife distance was on J1 = (1,5 cm) and under knifes rpm
R5 = (560 rpm).
