Disease prevention in fish using chemicals or antibiotics lead to microbial resistance. One of alternative to control the fish disease is to use plant extract. The aim of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial activity of lotus seeds (Nymphaea pubescens L.) on pathogenic bacteria and fungi in fish. The lotus seed was extracted with several solvent, such as n-hexsana, etil asetat and methanol. Testing of antimicrobial activity carried out by disc diffusion method, to determine the compounds contained in the extract phytochemical test. To determine the level of toxicity of the extract using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test. The extracts inhibitated the growth of Aeromonas hydrophila, Streptococcus agalactiae bacteria and Saprolegnia sp. fungi to some extent. Largest microbial growth inhibition zone of bacteria present in S. agalactiae by 10.72 mm.The optimal antimicrobial activity was obtained from n-heksana. The extract showed cytotoxic activity with LC50<1000 μg/ml. The chemical compound analysis showed that extract of lotus seed contains alkaloid, fenolik, glikosida, saponin and steroid/terpenoid.en_US
