    Abstract
    Mercury (Hg) is ahazardouspollutantbecause itis toxicif it accumulatesin the tissuesof organismanddifficultdegradedin theenvironment. Mercury(Hg) canpollute theriverwater environment that comes from Galudung waste to waters area withoutmanagementorhandlingbeforehand. This study was implemented inBatang Gadis River Kabupaten MandailingNatal from May toSeptember 2014 with using purposive sampling methodat3 stations. Station1 in Desa Simpang Banyak Julu Kecamatan Huta Pungkut, Station 2 in Desa Pasar Akad Kecamatan Hutabargot and Station 3 Desa Kumpulan Setia Kecamatan Hutabargot. Conducted of Waterandfishsamplingwith a span of2weeks. The results showedof difference inthe content ofheavymetalmercury(Hg) in theriver waterandfishmeat in eachstation. The content ofmercury(Hg) higherinfish meat then the lowest is in thewater. The content ofheavy metalsmercury(Hg) infish meat highestaverage (0.00128 to 0.01097 ppm) andin thesurroundingwaters(0.00015 to 0.00043 ppm). Content ofMercury(Hg) in theriver waterandfishmeatstill below of thequality standard. Averagefish's abilityto accumulatemercuryin their bodies. according toVanEsch(1977) BCF<100 indicates accumulationpower of fishto waterlow instation1(25.51), station2(12.88) and Station3(14.53). This suggeststhatCencen fish inBatang Gadis River accumulatedmercury(Hg). The observation ofthe gillhistologyinallstationsshowededema, fusion oflamellae, necrosisandmineralization.
