| dc.description.abstract | Belawan Sicanang village was one of villages in Districts of Medan
Belawan. One of people's livelihood in Sicanang was crabber of Mangrove crab.
The fishing gear used by fishermen to catch crabs was Bubu. Bait commonly used
to catch crabs by fishermen in the area such as Belanak , Mujair, and Eels. The
aim of this research was to know the influence of bait type to the catch of
mangrove crab (Scylla serrata) and to know the best bait type in mangrove crab
catch in Belawan Sicanang Mangrove forest area. The study was conducted on
February 4th - February 25th , 2017 and used the Complete Randomized Design
experiment. To know the influence of the type of bait to the Catch of Mangrove
Crab was used Analisys of Variance (ANOVA) and LSD test, and To know the
best type of bait then the average difference test by looking at the value of
Coefficient of Diversity of research data. The catch by using the fish bait of
Mujair as much as 3.0 kg with the average of each sampling of 0.75 kg, the type
of fish feed of the Eel as much as 5.4 kg with the average of each sampling
(repeat) of 1.35 kg, and Belanak Fish bait type as much as 4.7 kg with an average
of 1.18 kg persampling. From the result of Variance Analysis it was known that
the bait type has a significant effect on the catch, thus Hypothesis H0 is rejected,
and H1 was accepted. From the result of LSD test, it was found that the Eels Fish
(0.17) was significantly different, with Belanak Fish (0.43) and Mujair (0.60), as
LSD value of each treatment was greater than the value LSD (0.05) of 0.15. So
the use of different types of baits has a real effect on the catch of Mangrove Crabs
and the best type of bait to catch the Mangrove Crab in Belawan Sicanang Village
