Struktur Komunitas Kepiting Bakau (Scylla Spp.) di Perairan Kawasan Mangrove Desa Jaring Halus Kabupaten Langkat Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Mangrove crab (Scylla spp.) Is a fishery commodity that has high selling value because it has delicious taste and high nutrient content. The catching of mangrove crabs directly from the wild is done By using different types of traps and one of them is Bubu. Mangrove crabs have a habitat of living in the coastal area with mangrove vegetation around the mouth of the river. The mangrove crab populations are typically associated with good mangrove forests, so habitat loss will have a serious impact on crab populations. This study aims to analyze the community structure of mangrove crabs, mangrove density and environmental conditions in the waters of mangrove area of Jaring Halus village, Langkat regency of North Sumatra. This research was conducted in December 2016 until January 2017. The research was conducted by using purposive sampling method with 2 week interval for 2 months. The index value of mangrove crab diversity in mangrove waters of Jaring Halus village of Langkat regency of North Sumatra at station I of 1.06 (medium category category) station II is 1.02 (medium category) and station III is 0.99 (low category ). The mangrove density in the waters of the mangrove area of Jaring Halus village of Langkat regency of North Sumatra is categorized as very dense, and environmental conditions still support the life of mangrove crabs.
