dc.description.abstractAlginate-chitosan polyelectrolyte complex membrane, was prepared by mixing the solution of sodium alginate and chitosan at pH 5.28, while chitosan membrane was prepared by dissolving chitosan in acetic acid solution. The diffusion of urea, sodium salicylate and albumin through the membrane, SEM, swelling behaviour, tensile strength and IR were examined in this study. Urea and sodi11111 snlicylntc could clifli1sc through the membrane, but albumin absolutely couldn't. This study showed that diffussion properties of molecules with different molecular weight through alginate-chitosan polyeletrolyte complex membrane was faster than chitosan membrane, while the chitosan membrane has a better tensile stength properties. Based on this study, both membranes are potential to be used as haemodialysis membrane.en_US
