Utilization of Lake Toba is very diverse and required water quality and
fulled certain requirements. Otherwise, the used of the lake for the various
activities of the society also gives impact to water quality degradation.
This research has been conducted in May to July 2013 in Lake Toba. This
research used Purpossive Random Sampling. There are 3 locations. Station 1:
Ajibata as the inlet region of Lake Toba, Station 2: Haranggaol as Keramba cage
area and Station 3: Porsea as the outlet of Lake Toba. Sampling activities were
conducted once/month. This research aim to know heavy metal consentrate of
Lead (Pb) and Copper (Cu) in waters and sediments.
The results showed that the average water quality of Lake Toba is still in
the normal range. Metal content of Lead (Pb) and Copper (Cu) concentration in
the water column showed 0,028 mg/l and 0,027 mg/l. Another it, the results of the
study indicate that in the sedimen, concentrate of metal heavy Lead and Copper
respectively at 3,161 mg/kg and 2, 142 mg/kg. These results indicate that the
water had been polluted from the water measurement while the sediments hadn’t
been contaminated.
