dc.description.abstract | Generally candlenut are still broken traditionally. The product broken is affected by immersion process, drying and it will affect the product significantly. This research was performed in December 2011 up to February 2012 at Agricultural Engineering Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan using non factorial randomized block design with one factor i.e immersion temperature (3o C, 6 oC, dan 9 oC).The parameters observed were the percentage of whole nut, the percentage of nut broken in half, the percentage of crushed nut, the percentage of sticky core, immersion temperature and engineering econonics analysis using basic value, BEP, NPV, dan IRR. The results showed that immersion temperature had significantly affected all parameters. The best result was immersion temperature at 3o C. This equipment is feasible to operate with the basic value of Rp 119.92 / kg, the BEP of 37329.32 kg / year, NPV of Rp. 8.121.452,19 and Rp. 7.171.112,51, and an IRR of 37.64 %. | en_US |
