SUMEHI SINAGA : The effect of blade distance on the slice thickness of the
mechanical cassava slicer, supervised by AINUN ROHANAH and LUKMAN
ADLIN HARAHAP.
The manufacturing process of agricultural crops into foodstuffs is an
interesting thing to be known. It appeared that many agricultural crops that has
been processed further become more economics than before. One of the
fabricated process is slicing. The aim of this research was to test the distance
effect of the blade, conducted in October 2011 to March 2012 at the Laboratory
of Agriculture Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, North Sumatera University,
Medan, by literature study, experiment, observation, and testing of the equipment.
The parameters observed were effective capacity, percentage of material left on
the equipment, percentage of material not grated and uniformity of the slices.
The results of the research showed that the effective capacity of the
equipment was 60,98 kg/hr with 14,22 % materials not sliced and with 4,39 %
materials left on the equipment .
