Abstract

Case of tidal flood is a common problem in coastal areas. This is because the surface area of lower land or even the same compared to sea level. It is also due to rising sea levels so that the incoming tide and flood coastal. This study aimed to analyze the state of tidal flooding in coastal areas of Medan and provide a map of vulnerability to sea level rise in the city of Medan. Sea level rise is obtained from the average increase in tidal year. Then the sea level rise in the data associated with land use, topography, population, and direct interviews with local people. Results from this study indisemethicate that. The extent of inundation caused by sea level rise is increasing from year to year. So worrying some villages in the district of Medan Belawan. The results of direct interviews with local people also expressed the same thing that there are some villages that are prone to flooding tide (rob). Then use the method VCA based Perka No. 02 in 2012 to get the class of vulnerabilities in each village and projected in the form of maps with overlay method.
