Analisis Kualitas Air Sungai Pelawi di Desa Pelawi Kecamatan Babalan Kabupaten Langkat Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Pelawi River is one of the minor rivers in the area of Langkat Regency which is influenced pollution. The contamination may disrupt the ecological balance of aquatic organisms. Therefore, the aims of this research studies to determine the water quality of Pelawi River in Pelawi Village based on physics, chemical and biology parameters. The research was conducted in April to June 2014 in the waters of Pelawi River in Langkat Regency of North Sumatera. Physics and chemical parameters were analyzed by the Storet method based on water quality standard required by Government Act No.82/2001, while biological parameters (macrozoobenthos) were analyzed by Abudance and Biomass Comparison (ABC) curve. The location of sampling sites was done by Purposive Random Sampling method in three core areas are station 1 (agriculture activity), station 2 (domestic activity) and station 3 (industry activity). The results shows based on physical, chemical and Biology parameters of water, the water quality of Pelawi River were classified slightly polluted until moderatelly polluted water. Relate of Government Act No.82/2001 that the water quality standard of Pelawi River is Class II.
