dc.description.abstract | Batang toru river is one of the largest river in the South Tapanuli, with a
length of 69.32 km. Downstream, the current beach ends into the sea after the first
split the water into the lake Siais, where as upstream Batang Toru crossing
Tarutung, North Tapanuli The water from this river used for drinking water,
plantation/agriculture, sand dredging, tourism, transportation facilities. The people
activities along this rivers could influence its water quality, because the waste
produced by those people activities is thrown to this rivets directly. The changes of
the water qualities in the river induce the change of macrozoobentos community. For
that reason, it is necessary to observe the Batang toru river water quality based on
macrozoobenthic indicator. The aim of the research were to know the diversity of
macrozoobenthic at bioindicator in Batang toru river and to determine the Batang
Toru river quality level in relation to physical-chemical and biological of the river.
The research was carried out from November 2010 until March 2011 in Batang toru
river. Sampel were collected from three stations by purposive Random Sampling
method. Surber net and Eckman Grabb were used to taken the sampel. Samples were
identified in Laboratory PSDAL, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematic and
Natural Sciences of North Sumatera University. The result showed that there three
classes within nine ordo, 15 family and 15 genera of macrozoobenrhic were founded.
Goniobasis sp has the highest density index with 30,86 individua/m2 founded in second
station, and Macronychus Naucarinae and Rhithrogena first station has the lowest
density index with 1 ,23 individu/m2 and Atherix uand Neureclipsis on station . The
Highest Index Diversity (H) was founded at the first station with 1,668 and the
lowest value was founded at the 2st station with 1,506. According to the analysis
Spearman corrclation o.f light penetration, pH, DO has positive correlated to
diversity of Macrozoobenthic, while Organic Substrat , phosphate, Nitrate, BOD5,
TDS, ZSE COD and Temperature has negative correlation to the Diversity of
Macrozoobenthic. | en_US |
