One of the problems faced in the maintenance of super kampong chicken is inadequate feed management. One way to overcome these problems is proper feed management. This research was conducted in the Experimental Cage, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of HKBP Nommensen. The purpose of this study was to analyze the balance of energy and protein in the ration to increase the appearance of super kampong chicken production based on the performance, carcass and physiological response. This research lasted for 2 months from August to October 2021.
There were 135 super kampong chickens used in this study (unsex). The experimental design used a completely randomized design with a factorial pattern consisting of 2 factors, namely factor A was the energy level consisting of A1 (2800 Kcal ME/kg), A2 (2900 Kcal ME/kg) and A3 (3000 Kcal ME/kg). Factor B is the protein level consisting of B1 (19%), B2 (20%) and B3 (21%) with each treatment repeated 3 times. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if there was a significant difference at the 0.05% level followed by Duncan's test.
The results showed that the balance of energy and protein had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the appearance of production and physiological responses of super kampong chickens except that the carcass percentage and shank temperature did not have a significant effect. The conclusion of this study is that the best performance of super kampong chicken production was obtained in the energy and protein balance at the level of 2800 Kcal ME/kg: 19%, while the carcass percentage did not have a significant effect. The increase in energy level in this study (2900 – 3000 Kcal ME/kg) caused the emergence of heat stress for super kampong chickens (joper) with high respiratory frequency and rectal temperature values, while the shank temperature did not have a significant effect
