Until now there are many types of plants that have not been identified,
including lower plants and medicinal plants that are around the Dolok Tinggi
Raja Nature Reserve and the utilization by local community. This research aims
to determine the types of medicinal plants used by people around the Dolok
Tinggi Raja Nature Reserve and assess the chemical content of medicinal plants
used by the dominant community. This research using the survey method (through
the technique of direct observation, literature study, interviews), identification of
medicinal plants and laboratory test. Based on the interviews, plants that were
used as medicine by the community of Bahoan Village, Sub-district.Kahean there
are about 60 species.
Phytochemical Tests taked on 10 plant species were selected based on 10
species of medicinal plants which dominant used by the people of Bahoan Village
is Balik angin (Mallotus paniculatus Lam.), Suratan niailik (Anoectochilus Sp.),
Tomu ringring (Curcuma heyneana Val & Zyp.), Tawaripuh (Aeschynanthus Sp.),
Tomu kunci (Kaempferia pandurata Roxb.), Sari mandapot (Laurentia longiflora
L.), Tapak kuda (Plantago mayor L.), Sarindan (Loranthus chrysanthus BL.),
Papaitan (Andrographis paniculata Nees.), and Pultak pultak (Physalis angulata
Linn.), which alkaloid compounds found in four species, steroid compounds found
in five species, triterpenoid compounds found in two species, saponin compounds
contained in the four species, and flavonoid compounds found in five species
