The Description of Figure of Speech in Adel‟s Selected Song Lyrics

Abstract

This paper entitled “THE DESCRIPTION OF FIGURE OF SPEECH IN ADELE’S SELECTED SONG LYRICS”. The objective of this study is to describe the types of figure of speech found in Adele's selected song lyrics and to describe the dominant type of figure of speech found in Adele‟s selected song lyrics. The theory used in this paper is Gorys Keraf‟s theory in book Diksi dan Gaya Bahasa. The source of the data from this research is in the form of song lyrics from Adele's 30 album entitled Easy on Me, I Drink Wine, To Be Love, Love Is A Game, and Hold On. The method used by the researcher is a qualitative descriptive method. The figure of speech found in this paper is metaphor, hyperbole, personification, and simile. The dominant type of figure of speech found in this paper is metaphorical figure of speech.
