This Pariaman marriage custom is different and unique from other Minangkabau regional marriage customs, because it is the woman who has to propose to the man by requiring uang japuik, the handover of the uang japuik is named Bajapuik. Bajapuik tradition has a purpose of mutual respect between women's families (anak daro) and men's families (marapulai) by giving uang japuik as a marriage requirement before the akad nikah takes place. Uang japuik is a sum of money or objects of economic value given by the woman's family (anak daro) to the man's family (marapulai) at the manjapuik marapulai time with the Bajapuik ceremony taking place at the same time. The method used in compiling this paper is through reading books related to the topic, informants, and the internet. In this paper, the writer tries to explain the stages of the Bajapuik ceremony as well as the meaning and function of the symbols of the seserahan brought by the woman's family (anak daro) during the bajapuik ceremony. The writer hopes by this paper all the readers especially the younger generation, will know and understand the stages of this Bajapuik ceremony and understand the meaning and function of the traditional offering symbols given during this Bajapuik ceremony. And this paper can provide an understanding to the reader about the Pariaman tribe in the Miangkabau ethnic group with their traditions
