dc.description.abstractThe supply of the drinking water for Medan city and to several districts surroundings is served by PDAM Tirtanadi, a local government-owned enterprise of North Sumatra Province. It is currently more popular as a drinking-water company classified efficient in operation, either technical and functional for Indonesia. It is indeed, according to the issue in reality, the improvement quality for this clean water has caused a national issue and for the management of water supply for public and how to increase quality service for public is perhaps a specific challenge must deal with, need seriously to handle and got a certain strategic for the improvement and advance for the company. The problem to study is how the characteristics of Belawan river's water affected by community activity surrounding and its edge, still how the status of water quality existed on the Belawan river made as primary raw material for daily life on the installation unit of Pengolahan Air Sunggal and installation unit of Pengolahan Air Harnparan Perak. The result of study shows that the status of quality of Belawan river's water, for parameters influencing before IPA Sunggal is Ammonia (NH3-N) with score-8, BOD with score-10, COD with score-8, so total score amount of -26 so the definition status of quality of water on Sungai Belawan before IP A Sunggal with Storet Method is known as an intermediate polluted, while parameters influencing before IP A Hamparan Perak is noted Fluoride (F) with score-2, Mangan (Mn) with score-10, BOD with -10, COD with score-8, total Coli form with score-3, coli form feces with score -12, so total score all -45 that determination status of quality of water on Sungai Belawan before IPA Hamparan Perak is in heavy polluted.en_US
