Since Indonesia experiencing the economic cns1s in a long run, the
government and the corporate are using Good Corporate Gove1 nanc~ principler; and
making them as a part of management improvement, especially by a corporate to safe
itself from the economic crisis. The economic crisis makes the companies shut down
their bussinesses and resulting an open unemployment in Indon0sin which is raise to
9,7 million people (from 8, 1 million people now), or 9,4 % total employment rate in
2003. Approximately, in 2004 the employment rate will be I 02,8.~ million people
including new employment rate 2, IO million people. The creation or new job fields
only 10,83 million people. The creating of job fields will not match with the
employment 1:,1rowth so the open unemployment in 2004 will become I 0,83 million
people (10,32% from the employment rate) from I 0, 13 million people last year
(9,85% from the employment rate).
The unenployment condition in Indonesia is vety chronic, and if there is no
solution for it, it will cause another social problems and even the crime will also raise
because until now drawn from the operating funds are relatively slight. Therefore, one
of the best solutions is to make a good condition in corporate with Good Corporate
Governance. Without a health bussiness environment there will be Ill> strong countty
and concern about the limitation state fund, the private bussiness world are hoped to
resuscitate for the sake of macro economy situation that must be followed by an effort
to reappearing the national bussiness world in order to to absorb the workers and
reduce the poverty.
Commercial agriculture enterprises arc tested to face th1) bng n111 Lconomic
crisis because until now there are no commercial agriculture enterprises that being
bankmpt. Contrarily, those enterprises expand the lrnssiness and even the new
enterprises invest their capital on the agricultural.
In this chance, I choose the commercial agriculture enterprise, Asian Agri as a
research place because: as a big enterprise could absorb the lm·ge anwunt of workers,
linked with the expansion of enterprise in the future, their vision "To be one the
Largest, Most Profitable, Best Managed anJ Sustainable Palm Oil l.3usiness Group in
the world, a Prefen-ed Supplier to our Customers and the Preferred Employer to our
People," which wrapped into values and attitudes and become their cultlll'e with a
motto: "One Vision, One Culture."
These visions will not be reached if the company is filled with fraudulent and
deceit in their own intern environment and the extern. In their· intern need to take a note on the relations among positions, company's culture, company's regulatic,ns and
system, and also infonnations openness culture. While the ex!ern is the relations
between stakeholders and public.
Further more, it needs to building a ge~eralization by making the company's
vision into all employee's vision in Asian Agri, because of that it is resulting the
balance between company and employee's need. So the cumpany' s vision is a
togetherness statement which is camr from all elements: from the shareholders and
from the stakeholders. Vision hannonization becoming a commitment to employees
and corporations.
These principles showing us about social managl.!ment accountability by
avoiding from the mishold authority; becoming professional and uphold the ethics;
keep the bussiness healthy, so the aim to implement the corporate's vision and making
human proper to their dignity could be achieved.
